7 Most effective tips on socializing for introvert (by Introverts) - Introvert Whisperer

Introvert Whisperer / 7 Most effective tips on socializing for introvert (by Introverts) - Introvert Whisperer 7 Most effective tips on socializing for introvert (by Introverts) Life is all about making human bonds. Without bonds and people to share your life with, life would become boring and dull. And with making bonds, I don’t mean to have a huge following on the internet and social media. I mean having the courage to go and talk to people face to face. When we meet new people and bond over shared sorrows or joys, those people become special to us. But there are some people like me, who are introverts and it is a huge task to go and talk to people. We love to listen, but giving our inputs is a huge burden for us. For introverts, it is a huge task to enter a social event and mix with people, especially if they are strangers. Here are some of the most effective tricks and tips that will help all introverts out there. Also, it will help people with social anxiety. What more? These tips will work as only introverts shared these tips. Let’s begin…   Don’t overthink, do it If you overthink about every social outing, you will never be able to make a bond. So, put yourself out there.   Step outside your comfort zone and try to have a face-to-face conversation with people.   Use social media to engage in a conversation to get more comfortable with talking to a person. Also, start looking at all social meetings as a chance to meet new people, an adventure, and it will become easy for you.   Get comfortable Before going to a social event, get comfortable with the idea. Find out who will be there as it will help you get relaxed. Also, to remain calm, watch a funny movie or show before going to that event.   Set realistic and simple goals Don’t over expect from yourself. To become a person who is confident meeting and talking to new people, you should set realistic goals for yourself. You can also make planner of the dos and don’ts.   Set a goal to meet and talk to one person a day. It is a simple goal, right? Totally achievable. Or set a goal to go out by yourself to a mall or a social event and meet people and have fun. Don’t set goals like hosting a whole party, it will only pressurize you.     Take inspiration from your extrovert friends We all know one person or have one friend who loves meeting new people or going out. Take help from that friend and tag along with him/her to a social event or so on. It will help you get out and meet some new people and maybe forge a bond with someone.   Also, your extrovert friend will be at ease and might take the whole room by storm. Don’t let that affect you, keep smiling, and be a part of the conversation. Don’t be afraid of the nerves, it just indicates that you are alive Feeling nervous about a social outing, or going to that family dinner? Good, as it shows that you are a human and can feel.   Even though you feel nervous and scared, don’t let it hold you back. Socializing is a skill and with time and practice, once can grow to become a great conversationalist.   Steer the conversation so that it’s about them and not you As an introvert, we rarely like attention and focus on ourselves in a social setting. It makes us uncomfortable and awkward, and we are ready to flee the scene any minute.   But take a deep breath and steer the conversation so the focus is on them. Ask them questions about their lives, and you will feel relaxed and comfortable. It will also help you open up to them.   Don’t think of yourself as an introvert Stop labeling yourself as an introvert or extrovert. We human beings have a complex personality, with so many talents and skills. Labeling us an introvert, or extrovert, or a person with social anxiety only restricts us.   Instead, go and meet new people, try to have a conversation about a common favorite topic or enjoy each other’s company in silence. Gradually, you will become confident enough to go out and have fun without overthinking.   Being an introvert is not a bad thing, and there is no need to change your personality to fit into the world. The only reason we should encourage ourselves to go out, and be with others is to enjoy our one life.     Author Bio : Kavita is Outreach Specialist cum Content writer. 5 Stereotypes Lead Singers Face ( How to Overcome Them)

5 Stereotypes Lead Singers Face ( How to Overcome Them) Suzy S. Do you sing with a band? If so, you may have been wrongfully accused of one of the many stereotypes lead singers face even if youre always on your best behavior! Here, St. Augustine, FL voice teacher  Heather L.  shares her tips for proving them wrong Im the lead singer uh, make that the only singer of two bands, an acoustic duo and a guitar/drum/piano/mandolin group. And as much fun as I have in each rehearsal, and as well as I get along with my bandmates, being a lead singer can be, well, weird. Im always learning that lead singers face a lot of expectations, pressures, and especially stereotypes. Im also always learning to push past them. Heres a list of five stereotypes that people who sing with a band can face, and how to rise above! 1. Lead singers are pushy princesses or princes. Were thought to be super bossy, directing the entire rehearsal, dictating precise tempos, and  rearranging set order again and again. And while theres nothing wrong with expressing your  opinion, just remember: its not what you say, its how you say it. Be sure to make your  voice heard in a respectful and calm way, or you might just find yourself looking for a new band! 2. Lead singers need to be the center of attention (all the time). While its not cool to be an ultimate diva, this stereotype actually makes sense. I mean, the lead  singer is the center of attention much of the time. Its not our fault. But a team is a team, and  its important to let every member show off individual talents. Let every member of your band  have a solo once in a while. That way, everyone shines on stage. 3. Lead singers know squat about music theory. Okay, so maybe, sometimes, we lead singers believe that we can get by on our good looks. But some lead singers not only have a decent amount of theory knowledge, but also  maintain serious theory geek status. If your bandmates josh you every time you forget the relative minor of C major, then just avoid talking about music. Or, better yet, ask  your voice teacher  to help you brush up on your theory  with a great curriculum book, like  Alfreds Essentials of Music Theory. Its easy, fun and youll be able to learn music in less time. 4. Lead singers are high maintenance. We need our particular teas and our certain bottles of water, and, oh, no thank you, we  dont drink any dairy beginning three weeks before a gig. Some of these high maintenance  behaviors are simply good vocal health habits, especially when you sing with a band. But remember, a professional never panics and always maintains a proper perspective. So dont flip out if you cant make a cup of Throat Coat before band practice! 5. Lead singers are ditzy airheads. Were always late to practice. Were always forgetting our music. Lead singers are not known for perfect attendance or organization skills. But we can all help change that! How? By being punctual, organized, and just, well, considerate of other band members. Overcoming the stereotypes that lead singers face is ultimately about seeing yourself as the best kind of leader the one who sees themselves in the trenches with everyone else.  Remember, your bandmates are the people who you make music with.  In the long run, overcoming the stereotypes that lead singers face will help you to become a better singer and a better band. Introverts Guide to being Social

Introvert Whisperer / Introverts Guide to being Social An Introvert’s Guide To Becoming More Social Many people consider introverted people shy, think they can’t socialize and make friends and are just destined to be alone. But a true introvert knows this: it has nothing to do with shyness. We’re just being selective when it comes to communicating with others, we just don’t find comfort in spending time with random people, we’re alright with solitude and enjoy being on our own, we have more thoughts and creative ideas in our heads and need the time to do something about them, which has little to do with communication and relationships. But the most important thing is that we can be just as popular and social as anyone else, we just prefer not to. However, we still live in a world that’s all about communication. Social media has taken that to a whole new level and we can hardly keep up with so many notifications coming in and so much happening on each platform. Society expects us to enjoy small chats, to be in the mood for going out at any moment of the day, to talk for hours when we have nothing else to do, or even when we do have work to do. But that’s not who we are. Fortunately, there are some things you can start doing so that people can forget you’re an introvert and see you as another social human being, while you keep having enough time for yourself and have all the peace and creativity you need to live the life of a true introvert. Here are some of them: 1. Don’t overthink everything. We, introverts, have the habit of wanting to dig deeper into a person’s soul, to form a real connection. For that we need a lot of time to trust him, and even more to open ourselves in front of him. But if you want to be more social, you’ll have to let go of that. Such deeper connections will happen eventually, but until then, just enjoy meeting new people, talk about stuff in life, let go of your expectations and just say what’s on your mind. When someone special is in front of you, you’ll understand that and will still have the chance to learn more about him and share with him the deeper layers of your soul. 2. Challenge yourself. Practice is crucial in every part of life if you want to get better at something, and social life is no exception. Get out there every day, and talk to one new person. Yes, it would feel uncomfortable most of the times, you’ll have no idea what to say, you’ll come up with excuses to avoid the conversation, or else. But you’ll have to fight the resistance and get out of your comfort zone. This is a skill and can be developed over time. Talk to one new person daily or every few days, and it will feel much easier the next time. You’ll get better at approaching strangers which can be quite helpful in other situations, you’ll know what works when making a small talk, will have the chance to experiment and find topics you enjoy and are more comfortable with. That’s a great way for you to level up in your personal and spiritual growth. Challenging yourself builds discipline, you develop skills, feel more confident and overcome the anxiety of socializing. 3. Prepare. Do your research on the psychology behind the communication between two people. Read about what’s going on in their mind when they first meet. Improve your conversation skills by watching speakers do what they do best. Also, make the most of social media. It’s a great way to approach people and still be in your own company, without being judged or expected to do anything. You can answer whenever you feel like, but it’s a good start as it’s as simple as saying ‘Hey!’ to a few friends, old or new. Another way to prepare is to talk to yourself in the mirror. This will let you see what you’re doing wrong in terms of body language. You can even play whole scenarios like meeting someone new, approaching someone from the opposite sex, telling a story in front of a group, or else. While doing that your mind will be getting used to you being the speaker, not the listener as it was until now. You’ll also feel more comfortable in your own skin and will act naturally in public. Make a step-by-step plan on what preparation you can include in your days, even if it’s for 5 minutes. If you’re serious about getting better at being social, you’ll need to be dedicated and stay consistent. Major Building Blocks for Early Readers

Major Building Blocks for Early Readers Major Building Blocks for Early Readers How to Support Your Young Reader at Home If your child is an early elementary school student, you likely know how critical these first few years are in his or her reading development. According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the International Reading Association, learning to read and write isnt an automaticparents and teachers must expose young children to books and experiences in drawing, pretend play and symbolic activities and guide their instruction in learning to recognize letters and sounds in order for them to become literate. Also, the spectrum of literacy development is wide. Some children may acquire skills at different times than others, and the best teachers try different approaches and techniques based on the knowledge that students have. As your child navigates preschool through the early elementary grades, he or she will acquire a range of literacy skills that will help him or her become a capable reader. Here are a few of those building blocks and tips for how you can best support your readers learning (as researched in depth by the National Reading Panel, a collaborative jointly established by the U.S. Department of Education and the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development): Phonemic awareness Put simply, the smallest units (or sounds) of spoken language are called phonemes. As your child learns more about language, he or she must understand that words are composed of different sounds (/t/ /a/ /p/ in tap and /p/ /I/ in pie, for example), that some words make the same sounds (bag, band and bet all start with the /b/ sound) and often, sounds are formed from multiple letters. Songs and games are a great way to help children understand the various sounds that words make. Give your child a word (row) and have him or her add sounds to the beginning and end of the word to form new words (such as grow when /g/ is added to the beginning, or rows when /s/ is added to the end). Phonics Phonics instruction includes the teaching of letter sounds, the relationships between letters and sounds, and decoding words. One of the more effective approaches to helping students learn phonics is encouraging them to spell words out based on how they sound. Your child will learn different categories of phonics, such as consonant blends (bl, br, sl, scr), short vowels (cat, dot), long vowels (stay, road, tie) and consonant digraphs (sh, ph, gh). As your child begins to understand the sounds associated with these different letters and letter groups, he or she can use that knowledge to sound out new words. Fluency The goal for all students is to get them to read fluentlywith accuracy, speed and good expression. Without a doubt, practice makes perfect. Read aloud with your child every day. Take turns being the reader and allowing your child to read aloud and offer constructive feedback when your child reads. Vocabulary At a young age, children must learn high-frequency words that are common in written and oral language. Often, these sight words are not easy to decode, and therefore, it is important that newer readers can recognize them on sight. Over time, children must also learn words that are commonly used but unlikely to be known. Reading, writing and talking are the best ways to help children expand their vocabulary. Reading comprehension These days, there is great emphasis on the importance of reading comprehensionand it has long been known that reading comprehension is essential in the acquisition of literacy skills. A form of active thinking, comprehension involves inferring information that the author does not say explicitly, interpreting ideas and thinking through texts meaning. There are many reading comprehension strategies that you can try at home: summarizing passages while reading a story (and having your child do the same), asking questions about the story, thinking through the plot, structure, problem and setting of a story, and pausing to confirm understanding while reading challenging or intricate passages. It is easy to take for granted that a child will learn to read, but there are many pieces that must fall into place for it to happen. While you may not know exactly how to teach phonemic awareness or the best reading comprehension strategies for your child, your role as supporter is still critically important. As your childs teacher sends home reading exercises and assignments, invest the time to work on them with your child, knowing that the end result will be your child becoming a proficient reader and a stronger student.

Debate of the week Education needs an early start

Debate of the week Education needs an early start According to new research, children growing up in the poorest fifth of families in the UK are already nearly a year behind children from other families in vocabulary tests by the time they are five. The research was published by the Sutton Trust, which aims to promote social mobility through education. In it, 12,500 British five year olds were surveyed with reading and vocabulary tests. The results found that good parenting and a supportive home environment were the most important influencers, with children who benefited from both scoring more highly in their tests. Just under half of children from the poorest fifth of families were read to daily at age 3, compared with 8 in 10 of children from the most affluent families. Often, children find it difficult to catch up after such a poor start and their parents cannot afford private tutors.Whilst at First Tutors, we have sought to make private tutoring as affordable as possible (some of our tutors charge as little as 9 per hour) we acknowledge that it can be difficult, particularly in a recession. That's why we support the principles behind the government's initiative to provide one-to-one tutoring for those struggling the most in class. As most families who have tried tutoring know, one-to-one tuition is a very effective way to learn and the government's funding of this scheme endorses that perspective. But what if tutoring isn't an option? Try reading together as a simple way to get their education off to a great start. If you have small children, try reading to them every day - even if it's just for ten minutes. If you don't have children of your own, why not volunteer to help teach reading at your local primary school?
